Student Center is comprised of two buildings connected to one another. The first of the buildings is Student Center East. Student Center East is where many events are held on campus with Ballroom and Speaker’s Auditorium being located on the first floor. On the 3rd floor of Student Center East are many important offices such as the Event Management Office to reserve various rooms on campus as well as the Dean of Student Office.

Across from Student Center East, is the building Student Center West, which is connected by a bridge on the second and third floor. In Student Center West there are offices that will help students in their extracurricular desires as well as quick places to grab a quick bit or supplies. In reality, the most important floor in this building are the 2nd and 3rd floor to the majority of students as these are the floors that have food to purchase or entertainment/extracurricular activities for students to explore.

However, these are only a few highlighted offices from the Student Center. Below is a list of all offices within each building:

But aside from the office and the breakdown of the building, this is the student hub of Georgia State’s Campus. This building is where basically any and everything takes places whether that is fairs, events, or even parties. And when there are no events at the Student Center (or at least one that may not interest you), this is a central location where you can meet up with your friends and meet new people. At some point or multiple points in your life, you will have to come to the Student Center in your collegiate career at Georgia State. So why not get familiar with this place on campus!

Tips and Hints to Survive:

  • Always go to Chick-Fil-A on the 1st floor of Student Center West before 12:15, otherwise you’ll be eating dinner waiting in line.
  • Go through the Student Center to cut time off your walk to class.
  • The best place to take a nap in between classes is the Art Gallery
  • Get discounted tickets to main attractions in Atlanta (Skyview, Medieval Times, Regal Cinema, etc.) from Information Desk

  1. This a very helpful guide to the student center. It would have been great to have this breakdown of the student center when I was a freshman. The east vs. west thing can be confusing. I love the tips about chick fil a- so true! I also never knew there was an art gallery and I will definitely take my next on-campus nap there.

  2. This post is relevant, relatable and humorous! I wish I had this insight as a freshman entering into GSU opposed to figuring it out along the way. This would be extremely useful for a new student and serves as a friendly reminder for juniors and seniors who are well versed with the campus. I encourage you to continue on this topic, GSU staff/students would greatly benefit from this insight.
